Helena's dress and floral headdress in this photo shout "wedding party," maybe even her own wedding dress. She could have been a brides maid at the wedding of Alexandra and Edward in 1862 or Alice and Alice and Ludwig in 1862.She married in 1866, but her dress had a plain hem while this one has a frill just above her hem. Alice wore a simple dress for the somber ceremony while Alexandra wore her classic lace flounce dress more in keeping with the complexity of this dress. However the bridesmaid's dresses had plain hems.
