The end of the German Empire devastated Princess Marie Auguste and Prince Joachim, who committed suicide in 1920. She sued ex-Kaiser Wilhelm for promised support and he plead that contracts made under the German Empire were null after the war. She wound up essentially adopting grown people to sell titles for money as her life drew to its close. Her Wikipedia article is here.
