One of many portraits of notables of the day in fashionable dress by Francois Clouet from 1557.
She wears a reticulated (net-pattern) headdress on the back of her head, an "escoffion" under a feathered beret-type cap. This is a good example of a partlet, the covering between the dress and neck. Her partlet is of reticulated gold-work. She wears a heavy necklace below the ruff, a carcanet. She was probably wearing puffed sleeves.
