ca. 1820 Russian court dress

The glittering arches are not conforming to the folds of the dress the way the band of passimenterie at bottom and the row of rouleaux above it follow the folds. The Lady wearing this was wearing a cage, probably a somewhat heavy cage, around her legs. The rouleaux are a series of scallop-shaped plaques of folded fabric.
