The Arese family is apparently part of the Italian Borromeo family. Arese is located in Milano. This portrait probably shows Spanish style penetrating into northern Italy.

The dress adorned with small beads or pearls and the the elaborate headdress are both striking. The bodice and sleeves have vestigial saya parts.
