SUBALBUM:  Infanta Maria Teresa of Portugal, Princess of Beira

According to her Wikipedia article, she was the first born child of João VI of Portugal and Carlota Joaquina of Spain. Napoléon’s invasion of Portugal forced them into exile so she was married in Rio de Janeiro to infante Pedro Carlos. She supported conservative contenders for the thrones of Portugal (D. Miguel I) and Spain (infante Carlos in the first Carlist war). Infante Carlos’ first wife Maria Fransisca was her sister. Carlos and Francesca had one child and she died in childbirth, Carlos went on to marry Maria Teresa in 1838. He died in 1855 and she dhe died in Trieste in 1874; they had no children together. Both Miguel’s and Carlos' attempts to seize power contributed to civil wars in their respective countries.
