According to her Wikipedia article, she married Francesco I de Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and gave birth eight times, but only two children, both girls, survived to childhood. One, Eleonora, became Duchess of Mantua and the other, Marie became Queen of France. Francesco was more interested in his mistress, Bianca Capello, and Joanna was despised by the Florentines. She died in childbirth and Francesco married Bianca afterwards.
