1582 Anne Knollys by Robert Peake the Elder (Denver Art Museum, Denver USA)

Colorful dress was in style in Elizabethan England as shown by this portrait of Anne Knollys. Her brief Wikipedia article can be found here. She had sisters named Elizabeth and Lettice.

The Wikipedia article for Robert Peake the Elder is here.

Everything is getting bigger - ruffs, sleeves, farthingales.

She wears tabbed, instead of rolled, sleeves and the (emboidered(?)) decoration on her bodice and false sleeves is spectacular.

Keywords:  1582, Knollys family, Peake, English, neck ruff, jeweled headdress, straight coiffure, high enclosing neckline, carcanet necklace, necklace, puffed sleeves, tabbed sleeves, slashed sleeves, false sleeves, brooch
