1569 Lady, in a Black Dress with Gold-trimmed and Jewelled Cap by Master of the Countess of Warwick (auctioned by Sotheby's)

From the Sotheby's Web site; some spots in the background and a linear flaw extending from the top edge to the bottom edge removed with Photoshop by gogm.

The subject wears a black over-bodice and an under-garment with asterisk ornaments in the center. Just where the sleeves of net adorned with small pearls come from is unclear, but they can be called French sleeves. Her over-bodice has a vee décolletage framed by wide lapels. Her cap is adorned with metallic thread and it has a large back. She may be wearing a French hood.
