Dorothea of Anhalt-Zerbst 1607-1636 by ? (Das Alte Zollhaus Museum, Hitzacker (Elbe) Germany)

Daughter of Rudolf von Anhalt-Zerbst. She looks very young, maybe ten or even younger, so the date for this image would be around 1617 or earlier.

Her ruff is connected to her partlet. Her neck opening is surrounded by a lace collar that overlays her ruff while her neckline is fringed by a bertha. She wears three ropes of pearls, a spectacular bodice ornament, and the rim of her coiffure is delicately fringed with jewels.

This image provides a closer look at circular broches seen in portraits of this era. It is a worked metal and pearl brooch attached to what could be a rosette of striped ribbon.
