1620 Magdalen Pultney, later Lady Aston by Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger
Magdalen Putney wears a dress, probably with a partlet, cut très décolleté in this 1620 Gheeraerts.
From katmax1 on Webshots.
Her high, almost Empire high, vee-waistline is the dominant design element of her dress making her appear tall. The thin false sleeves bared by the openings in her hanging sleeves look gaunt while her décolletage is impressive. There is no vestige to be seen of a farthingale.
