This shows a link between the Spanish hanging sleeves and Russian sleeves that would emerge in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The hanging sleeves have become wrappers with wide slits surrounding the false sleeves that would become much shorter. The skirt has the silhouette that would prevail until late in the century after the awkward basque bodice was dispensed with.
