From the Victoria and Albert Museum via "embroidered jackets" Pinterest site.
Here is an altogether milder form of jacket than that seen in the image of Lady Catherine Killigrew, although any linen and/or lace parts are gone. A seam runs the entire lengths of both sleeves and the sleeve joint seams are also visible. It has a cover flap about a cm wide over the fasteners that extends to several cms at the bottom. The embroidery is amazing; animals and plants were favorites in British embroidery.
