Mary of Hungary's wedding dress is a fitted garment with a gathered skirt, but with a distinctly Middle Ages flavor (upper right and middle images). Late Middle Ages garments had flared, sometimes highly flared, sleeves and this dress has vestigial flaring. The bodice has what appear to be cloth of gold revers in front that circle around the neckline (bottom right image). A waist band hides where the skirt joins the bodice while a dart extends upward into the bodice (bottom left image). The chemise is edged with silver thread and flexible smocking; a modesty piece is sewn to the top of the chemise (upper left image).
