1876 Thyra, Duchess of Cumberland, Prince Valdemar and Princess Alexandra

Princesses Thyra and Alexandra both married into the Welf family; Alexandra's member of the Welf family was the one and only generation that was properly named Wettin. With her eldest son George, the family name was changed, permanently, to Windsor. Princess Thyra's Welf lost his place in Bismarck's wars of German unification, otherwise Thyra would have been the Queen of Hanover.

These 1876 skirts are not as full as they had been in the first bustle era, they are close almost to the point of being Hollywood tight. Princess Alexandra wears a double-breasted jacket. Both Princesses wear skirts with long apron-like tabliers.
