From josefnovak33's photostream on flickr; the image was heavily spotted (foxed) so the more distant background was replaced by a uniform color, the closer background was smudged, and spots removed throughout the image were removed with Photoshop by gogm. The sepia tone was also removed from the image by gogm.
The Countess wears an early 1870s bustle dress based on the vertical pleats of her skirt. Later 1870s dresses relied on swags of draped material.
