The sisters Dagmar and Alexandra with their companion animals at their villa, Hvidøre, in Denmark

Both are in somber clothing and fashion icon Alexandra is wearing very plain clothing making Dagmar the more stylishly dressed. What could prompt this? Their father, King Christian IX died in 1906 and their mother, Queen Louise, died in 1898. I am guessing this dates to around 1906.
