She took the Russian court by storm with her beauty and vivacity, but the sad state of medicine in the 1770s ended her life when when she attempted to deliver a stillborn child.

Grand Princess Natalia Alexeievna wears a long-sleeved satin jacket over a long-sleeved dress or chemise in this 1776 Roslin portrait. She was with child if this portrait dates to 1776; that would explain her sitting down and maybe her hand placement.
