She bore 13 children as mistress of Elector (Kurfürst) Wilhelm I of Hessen-Kassel. He was the son of the man who rented soldiers out to fight in American colonies, Frederick II, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel, and Princess Mary of Britain. He was married to Princess Wilhelmina Caroline of Denmark who bore him four children, but Caroline Juliane Albertine von Schlotheim bore 13, of whom five reached adulthood.
