1787 Figure de mode - dame en robe de cour ou nouvelle étiquette by Charles Germain de Saint Aubin (Les Arts Decoratifs - Paris France)

From Les Arts Decoratifs.

Her coiffure is wide, emphasized by pouffs of flowers under feathers. If this is a saque-back, there is not vivible evidence of it. The over-skirt originates at the point of her bodice and goes all the way around her expanded skirt, the edge being marked by swags of white material braided with pearls. Her ruffle is marked by pink pouffs decorated in over-under pattern with pearls. Most of the under-skirt is plain white. The way her hands extend behind the skirt suggests the skirt is as narrow as a waffle. She appears to be wearing a short lace veil or wide lappets.
