Coiffure is turning from high to wide in 1781. The sleeves have several puffed sections, almost as exaggerated as in the 1600s, and narrow lace flounces. This Duchess wears gloves and rests her left hand on her wide-bodied skirt decorated with an array of ruching, lace, and bows. Part of a young Lady's education had to be walking wearing pumps while balancing one of the amazing dresses.
