According to her Wikipedia article, Fortunée (Fortunata) d'Este was directly involved in and influenced by the Revolution. She didn't get along with her husband, Louis François Joseph, Prince of Conti. They quickly separated and she bore no heirs. She was discreet and conservative while Marie Antoinette was rebellious so she was not part of the Quuen's circle while she maintained good relations with her nieces the Princesse de Lamballe and the Duchesse d'Orléans. She supported the monarchy so she slipped out of France under an assumed name, settling in Fribourg Swizerland. Adelaide d'Orléans moved in with her and they moved to Bavaria, only to be forced to move by Napoléon. She retired to the Convent of the Visitation in Venice where she died.
