Isabel Farnese wears a magnificent gold brocade dress in this Meléndez work from between 1718 and 1722. Sleeves were puffed throughout the 1600s and earlier – but here the sleeves are tighter. The jet(?) bodice ornament attached to her stomacher is magnificent while the armor-like stomacher appears to cover over the edges of her bodice. There are no strips of material, revers, framing the stomacher. She wears a ribbon headdress with two long streamers trailing from a bow above her forehead.
