Princess Christine Charlotte of Hesse Kassel by Johann Heinrich Tischbein the Elder (auctioned)

All I can find out about her is this strip from Maximillian of Hesse Kassel's Wikipedia article, "Christine Charlotte (11 February 1725 in Kassel - 4 June 1782 in Kassel), from 17 April 1765 canoness of Herford Abbey, from 12 July 1766 coadjutor abbess of Herford." "Herford" sounds British, but it is not in the UK; it is located between Münster and Hanover in northern Germany.

Posted to the Sex, Vintage & Royals blog on 25 June 2011.

Christine's dress is a good representation of mid 1700s style with straight, jeweled hair, a square neckline, ribbons en échelle, and a full, supported skirt. Her dress is trimmed with fur bands. I cannot resolve a saque back on her dress.
