Anne has a chance to display great wealth without being confined by a corset or impeded by panniers. Her dress combines elements of French dress, notably lace, with Turkish dress. In 1755, her husband, Charles, comte de Vergennes, was posted to the Ottoman Empire first as minister plenipotentiary, later as full ambassador.
