1764 Madame Lenoir by Joseph Siffred Duplessis (Musée du Louvre - Paris France)

From facesfrompast.blogspot.com/2009/03; spots removed from background with Photoshop by gogm.

French style is much more formal than British style during the day. Mme. Lenoir's dress has lace engageantes, bows en échelle, and wide revers or robings. The stomacher bows do not taper rapidly so the side panels are probably the robings of a robe à la française.
