1761 Mantua & petticoat (front), probably worn by Mary Holt, wife of 7th Earl of Haddington to George III and Charlotte's wedding (National Museums of Scotland - Edinburgh Scotland)

Countess Mary's article in thepeerage is here.

From nms.scran.ac.uk/database/record.php?usi=000-180-000-138-C.

This mantua, thanks to the curved corners and flared sides, is a wonderful improvement from the boxy 1740s models. Like the 1740s style, this is ankle-length and ends the bodice with robings and a shallow vee waistline. There appears to be a train barely visible on the right side of the image.
