Elizabeth Drax was born circa 1720.2 She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. Augustus Berkeley, 4th Earl of Berkeley, son of Vice-Admiral James Berkeley, 3rd Earl of Berkeley and Lady Louisa Lennox, on 7 May 1744. She married, secondly, Robert Craggs Nugent, 1st Earl Nugent on 2 January 1757 at Springs Garden, St. Martin's-in-the-Fields, London, England. She died on 29 June 1792.2 She was buried on 30 June 1792 at Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England.
She was the daughter of Henry Drax and Elizabeth Ernle. As a result of her marriage, Elizabeth Drax was styled as Countess of Berkeley on 7 May 1744. From 7 May 1744, her married name became Berkeley. She held the office of Lady of the Bedchamber to HRH The Princess of Wales in 1745. From 2 January 1757, her married name became Nugent.
Horace Walpole writes "there is nothing as black of which she is not capable."
