1700s corset (Boca Raton Museum of Art - Boca Raton, Louisiana, USA)

Most North American history is thought of as British, but the French colonized a massive swath in the center of the present-day USA as well as Quebec. This led to places named after King Louis, such as Louisiana territory, the present day State of Louisiana, Louisville in Kentucky and also a distilled beverage called bourbon. I am assuming this is from the French colonial period in Louisiana.
