Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Sicile (1798-1870), Duchesse de Berry by Alexandre-Jean Dubois-Drahonet (auctioned by Christie's)

The tiny shoes remind me of a Barbie joke aimed at women of a certain age - "Bunion Barbie. Years of disco dancing in stiletto heels have definitely taken their toll on Barbie's dainty arched feet. Soothe her sores with the pumice stone and plasters, then slip on soft terry mules.”

This was been posted as “ca. 1820” with the quotes used to express doubt about the date estimate from the original posting. Upgrade image posted 26 March 2017 from the Chritie’s Web site. Also posted to Caroline Ferdinande, Duchesse de Berry’s Subalbum here.
