ca. 1897 brocaded satin evening gown by Lucile (auctioned by Kerry Taylor) From pinterest.com-dollpro-1895-99-

This is the earliest Lucile dress that I have found. It has a substantial bustle and black lace epaulettes over its low-slung leg-o-mutton sleeves. The neckline is framed by velvet panels in lieu of lapels. The shoulders have epaulettes, but pushing military analogies further, the shoulders are covered by black lace shoulder boards. the dress has a stomacher section complete with revers, but the revers don’t extend down to the waistline. Lucile is aware of fashion history, but, in the words of Fleetwood Mac, going her own way.
