Vanjaigic’s caption: “ca. 1650; outer fabric:  Italian ?; tailoring: Dresden, Electoral tailor’s workshop. Gold brocade, amaranth red silk, gold thread, gold lace, gold passementerie, lace fastening, fishbone rods. This dress, made of 'amourant (silk) and gold fabric with gold lace', whose splendor is further enhanced by a train, is one of the most precious garments owned by Magdalena Sybilla. It was intended for an excptional event, such as the double wedding of her younger sons Christian and Moritz in Dresden in 1650. The dress was supplemented by a white lace collar along the shoulder width décolleté, as well as long sleeves and jewelry."

The strips of lace give an idea of where the bertha would fall when worn.
