1914 Marchesa Casati with Peacock Feathers by Giovanni Boldini (Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna - Roma, Italy)

Wanted in Rome has this description in its article about the portrait, “...He depicted the Marchesa with a spectacular headdress of peacock feathers, accentuating the birdlike poise of Casati who is perched amid a sea of swirling water, or rumpled sheets, with the suggestion of a ballgown and high heels. Half siren, half bird, she is an exotic creature ready to take flight into the silvery night sky…”

This may have been de-accessioned from Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna.

About all that can be said is that the Marchesa is wearing a jeweled headdress, possibly with peacock plumes, a tight skirt, and shoes.
