1907 Toria, Princess Victoria of Great Britain by Philip Alexius de Laszlo (National Portrait Gallery - London UK)

From the lost gallery's photostream on flickr.

Portraitist de Laszlo knew how to paint gorgeous portraits that give little detail about clothing, following in the ways of Sargent and Boldini. But this portrait is a remarkable character study piercing straight to the loneliness of the Princess.
