Christine of Lorraine wears a lavishly decorated gold and black saya with hanging and false sleeves in this portrait by Santi di Tito from about 1590. It is a good example of the vee waistline that remained in use until the early 20th century, with a break during the Napoleonic era. Her hanging sleeves are complete even to having cuffs.
