The bottom edge of the dress has been altered to remove the band of discoloration.

This looks like a dress at the end of the reign of the saya when the saya transformed into a tontillo as documented by Velazquez. Her coiffure is ornamented with a subdued version of the decorations seen in Velazquez portraits.
