1823 Madame Jacques-Louis Leblanc, née Françoise Poncelle by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (Metropolitan Museum)

Mme. Leblanc dress shows the beginnings of fashion items of the following years - a pleated bodice, and shoulder-emphasizing sleeves. Her center-parted coiffure resembles that worn by Mlle. Gonin. Mme. Leblanc's sleeves have large high puffs with sawtooth cuffs and gauzy extensions down to her wrists.
