1858 Princess Alice as bridesmaid by or after Franz Xaver Winterhalter (Royal Collection)
The crinoline was still fairly new when this 1858 portrait of Princess Alice as a bridesmaid was painted by Winterhalter. Princess Alice was bridesmaid at her sister Victoria's wedding. She was portrayed numerous times for this event, such as this Winterhalter. Click here for the Royal Collection's version of the original and you can see why I feel this could be after Winterhalter.
This is not the dress that was depicted in the last image. A photo shows that this dress has a lace bertha and flounces, not picked up by the artist, and substantial engageantes that were depicted. It has a full dome crinoline skirt with the commonly used vee waistline.
