King Leopold married Charlotte of England. However she died during childbirth so Leopold married again. He married Louise Marie d'Orléans, the subject of this subalbum. They had three sons, two survived to adulthood. One was the infamous King Leopold II while the daughter, named after Leopold's first wife Charlotte, married Maximilian of Austria who was executed by firing squad in Mexico at the end of Napoleon III's ill-fated intervention there.
