This was originally posted on 27 May 2010 as “Soirée at the Tuileries." The actual title is "Fête officielle au palais des Tuileries pendant l' Exposition Universelle de 1867.” This is a much betther image than the first one that shows the entire work and truer colors.

Square and bateau necklines are competing with off shoulder vee or scoop necklines and half-conical skirts are common. One person to left wears an aqua or cyan over-skirt and purple or magenta under-skirt. Few front necklines are visible, but this shows what back necklines are in style.
