1860 Princess Anna of Hesse-Darmstadt, Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin

Princess Anna of Mecklenburg Schwerin’s Wikipedia article is here. She was Friedrich Franz II, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin’s second wife, following Princess Augusta Reuss of Köstritz. She died a week after giving berth to their child. He went on to marry Princess Marie of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt.

The highlight of Princess Anna’s dress is the filler between the rufles of her bertha that would otherwise create a deeply plunging neckline.
