This is a delightful 1840s pre-crinoline era dress made of the same fabric from just the hem to just below the pleats of her bodice. The colors of the hem band and pleated bodice closely match those of the rest of this dress. It is possible, but unlikely, that her pleated bodice also had a lace bertha, lost with the passage of time.
