"Early" "Victorian" - 1837 to 1869

Fashion from the era of the French Revolution/ Empire/British Regency Period went from columnar skirts hanging from high waistlines in republican style back to full skirts with vee waistlines so a characteristic silhouette had evolved when Victoria became Queen in 1837. The silhouette swelled with the arrival of the cage crinoline around 1857 and then faded to another shape defined by the bustle around 1870, the year the Second Empire fell.

There were a number of eminent Ladies from this time period, for reasons ranging from beauty to literary achievement, who are the subjects of Subalbums in this Album.
