1625-1640 British bodice (Manchester Art Gallery)

This image comes from the Manchester Art Gallery, but is one of a number of images on the Pinterest "embroidered jackets page" operated by Robin Coccagna.

This bodice does not need a stomacher. There are no visible buttons, even if this is substantially enlarged, although the bodice has an obvious split down the center. The sleeve to bodice joints are covered by flaps. The blackwork is spectacular and carries across the split.
